Armed forces watches, as their name implies, were created for the armed forces. The 1st military watches were naval pieces, chronometers that worked okay for their purposes, but as other branches of the army – aviation especially – made major technical advances round the time of the second World War, accurate measurement of the seconds became urgent.

As the old chestnut goes, ‘necessity is the mother of invention,’ and Navigator ( occasionally called ‘Pilot’ ) watches were born. In the Navigator watch design, the seconds bezel permitted the pilot to synchronize the second hand with a correct reference time before takeoff, and to make manual corrections to radio time signals while in flight, therefore getting rid of any ‘chronometer error’ and the navigational gaffes that would result.

In World War I seconds continued to be important in both military technology and army watches. The feature that authorized for synchronization between two watchs – continued to improve and advance. These watches were worn on the exterior of a flight jacket or on the navigator’s thigh.

The Germans also added antimagnetic protection to their chronometers. Inside another major Axis power, Seiko produced a fantastic number of armed forces watches for the Japanese Imperial armed forces and Navy. These watches averaged around 49mm in diameter.

As the times of WWII faded into memory and the strained peace of the ‘Cold War’ became fact, army budgets and military technology boomed. Watchmakers rose to the call by planning an instrument deserving of going into battle with humankind’s strongest weapon. Those were the excellent times of the army watch, though no definite design house can claim full credit for the steps made in that time.

Cold War-era army watches were much larger than the characteristic US consumer navigators before them. Averaging 36mm in diameter, the development of these watches was moved to Switzerland and the Swiss armed forces watch corporations who came to the task with centuries’ old reputations for precision.

Like those before them, these Navigators also featured a matte black dial marked with white Arabic numbers 1-12, and with white indices. The new designs didn’t have white numbers at cardinal three, six, nine, and twelve. Another new addition was a shatterproof Perspex acrylic crystal, which protected its large twelve ligne movement from magnetic fields.

These hand-wound watches were envisioned to be water-resistant to twenty feet, including water-resistance under low pressure at operational altitudes, and added a naval dimension to the regular military watch.

For a more casual look, crew neck and v-neck sweaters may be worn with jeans and a t-shirt underneath. They also look good when worn with a pair of dress slacks and a collared shirt, giving a professional bearing at work or perhaps on a date. Sweaters are a mandatory item for all wardrobes.

You might choose a cardigan knit of wool, cotton or cashmere and light enough to still wear a jacket over. Cardigans with double zippers let you take them off and put them on without a hassle. These sweaters layer well. Wear them with t-shirts, under a jacket, or with a button down shirt. Team them up with a pair of cords, dress pants or jeans. If you don’t have one in your closet yet plan a shopping trip so you can try one of these essentials and see for yourself.

Nothing beats a polo sweater in the summer time. With short sleeves and knit of light cotton, polo sweaters are made for the summer. While they offer a little more formality than a t-shirt you can still be cool and comfortable in the warm summer months. Polos look awesome with khakis. They’re an instant hit for casual Friday no matter where you work.

In the frigid months of winter, you may want a turtleneck sweater. These look best when they are not over-sized, and are a little tighter around your neck and midsection. A slightly baggy knit turtleneck may, however, give you a desirable look with a pair of stylish jeans. For a more classy and unique look, you may try a merino wool or light cashmere turtleneck beneath your dress coat.

Of course, a cashmere sweater is no doubt the most elegant item of clothing in your wardrobe. While the wools and cottons may be the cornerstones of your closet, the extremely soft and comfortable cashmere is suited to being worn throughout the year. Should you not have one presently, the first cashmere sweater you get should be of a neutral color, such as charcoal, navy or black, so that you can wear it with almost anything.

So since that little shopping trip is bound to have brought more that one sweater your way it would be wise to learn how to care for them. Dry cleaning at least once every season is advisable for cashmere, wool and cotton sweaters. You do have the option of hand laundering wool and cashmere with a mild laundry preparation such as Woolite. In reality, you’ll prefer the softer feel of hand washed sweaters to the feel of dry cleaned garments.

The umbrella is a very old concept that goes back many centuries. But unlike nowadays the umbrella in those days was used for cover against the sun rather than rain. The umbrella of those days was used by people high up the social ladder and usually it was carried by a servant who followed the master.

This was the case in most countries in ancient times, whether it was Europe, Asian and ancient American civilizations. The umbrella was seen as a symbol of social status or hierarchy. Only people with special permission were allowed to use them. This practice remained in these countries for many centuries.

The oldest known umbrella that was a collapsible design, similar to what we find today was first seen in china. These umbrellas came about sometime around 1800 years ago. These early umbrellas were made out of bronze and had complicated sets of joints and hinges that allowed for it open and close, showing some remarkable craftsmanship for its day.

In doesn’t take a historian or archeologist to see that this design is the forefather of the modern umbrella design concept. The Chinese were also the first to use the umbrella for rainy weather. By the end of the 18th century the umbrella was undergoing change as far as people perception towards it. Now we see a situation where people of various social back grounds were starting to use it.

After that in the late 19th century the umbrella became a common item in peoples lives, and was known by various names such as gamp, brolly etc. Towards the end of the 20th century there was yet another change in umbrella design and that was the wind proof umbrella. So called because the canopy is specially designed so that the wind will pass through without any problem. Still to date, the internet is the most competitive market when shopping for most consumer goods, and umbrellas are no exception.

The simplest way to put this is medical scrubs are the every day uniforms of most of the doctors, nurses, medical staff, etc. That we see when he go to a medical facility. It does not matter if it is a hospital or a doctor’s office, they all seem to wear these now.

These can come in some very eye catching designs and colors. Uniforms for hospital personnel used to be very drab and dreary, but not any more. You can find some fantastic themes and such on a number of uniforms. There are numerous colors as well that these come in. Not just your every day white or blue that we used to see all the time.

Have you every wondered about a pediatricians office or childrens hospital ward. The staff in these facilities have some of the best nursing uniforms around. They can range from cartoon characters to sports teams, etc. Some doctors are branching out to wear different scrub tops as well. You will see 90% of physicians wearing those traditional blue, but every now and again you get a rebel doctor who likes to have a little fun and mix it up just a bit.

Imagine not having to mess up your street clothes while working in these facilities. If you worked in an ER for instance, with some of the problems that can go along with that job, you would not want to be walking around and treating patients with your street wear on. Scrubs are fantastic in this arena. After your day is done you do not have to worry about them. Bin them and the hospital laundry services takes care of the rest.

Depending on where you work, or if you work in a specialty facility, your uniform may be supplied for you. These can have company name, etc already on the uniform. You become a kind of walking advertisement for the company as well. Others may just like being different and buying their own. Depending on their budget they may have several different styles and colors. The possibilities are nearly endless now. These uniforms also come in different sizes including those who need a more full-figured uniform.

Some, depending on their position, may need to wear a certain uniform or color of uniform while those who work under them may have a more liberal choice. If this is the case have no fear. Just because you may be stuck with one color does not mean you cannot change it up a bit. Pick different styles within the same color or even add a trim of some funky fabric to your uniform.

Then there are the ones who do not even work in or near a medical facility. They just like to have a pair or two of scrubs for the sheer comfort they are. They feel great when running around doing errands and such. Just throw on a pair and off you go.

Medical scrubs are comfortable, fun, funky and affordable. You will not have to break the bank to have a variety of uniforms at your fingertips. Try choosing something for your different moods. If you work with children, try out some of those character uniforms, etc. They come in a lightweight material and are very comfortable to wear. They are also easy to wash and maintain in good condition. Switch it up a bit and try something new.

This reputable online retailer offers practical and fashionable medical scrubs for your everyday use. Choose from a wide variety of high-quality Mobb Medical and nursing uniforms designed to feel like a comfortable fit on your body.

Collar, cuff, sleeves and cuff- this is what the men’s dress shirt has always consisted of. Not a lot has changed to the piece of timeless clothing, other than becoming a more cut fit over time. In the UK it’s called a shirt, and in the United States it’s referred to as the Button-down or the dress shirt. Here we discuss all the details of the men’s dress shirt, from top to bottom.

The strap of fabric that makes the inner part of the collar on a dress shirt is referred to as the Collar Band. The collar band is the part of the dress shirt that the top button is attached to. For a tall collar you will need a high collar band. You may have seen collars from the disco era – a wide sprawling collar. This type is actually made without a collar band, though you will find most shirts do have one. Some designers include a contrasting collar band that has a different fabric color than the rest of the shirt, just for a fashionable touch.

Probably the most defining characteristic of the dress shirt is the collar. Look for signs of bubbling on the collar to pick out inferior quality shirts- this is from the interfacing not properly being sealed. The interfacing is a piece of material added to the fabric to increase its rigidness. Also, the collar will be sewn in on from the brim to form it’s structure. Again, the inferior shirts will be sewn right on the brim of the collar, while the better dress shirt’s are sewn a centimeter in. Most common style is the Traditional point collar, which you will find in most business settings. Less common, but also very nice, are the curved point, buttondown, round point. Choose a collar that compliments your neck, you just need to try on a few different collars to see which one does.

The collar point is the pointed part of the collar at the front of the men’s dress shirt. The points should lie flat and be wrinkle- and pucker-free. Traditionally, dress shirts had collar stays on the reverse side of the points, though stays are not common anymore, with dress shirts now being constructed to maintain collar shape without them.

A good tailor will put a lot of consideration into the space between the collar points, know as the collar spread. The reason so much consideration must be made for this is because a men’s dress shirt should flatter your natural body shape- so a person with a stout neck should use a collar with a narrow spread, while a person with a skinny neck should use a collar with a larger spread. By doing so, the neck will visually be enhanced by the collar, thus bringing the best out of your body.

The front center placket is the piece of material on the front of the dress shirt where the buttonholes are placed. In the past, it was a separate piece of cloth sewn to the front, but today men’s dress shirt makers often fold the edge of the material to form the placket. It gives the shirt a defined center and makes a clean finish where the shirt sides join to be buttoned. Most shirts have six buttons, or for taller fits, 7 buttons. Other variants of plackets are the Bluff front, Fly front and the Twin Stitching front.

A pocket on a dress shirt is self-explanatory- it’s simply for holding items. Your decision to have a shirt with or without should be based on whether you liked to put items in it- pens or such. Some people find a pocket will increase the style of a shirt, especially if you find a plain shirt a little to boring. Only at the most formal settings should you consider a shirt that does not have a pocket.

Dress shirts come in either full sleeve or short sleeve versions. The long sleeve men’s dress shirt is considered the norm in a business or formal setting, though in tropical climates, it can be acceptable to wear a short sleeve style at the work place. In a more casual setting, full sleeves can be rolled up to the length of short sleeves, thus providing a style of their own.

The sleeve placket extends from the break in the cuff approximately 1/4 up the sleeve length. It is also known as a “gauntlet.” The main purpose of the sleeve placket is to allow the sleeves to be rolled up, and it also provides a better fit around the forearm for the dress shirt. Some men’s dress shirts have a button on the sleeve placket, allowing the opening to be held closed.

The arm whole is more technically called the armscye. It is the opening from the main part of the shirt to the sleeve. Many slim people find the standard armscye on a off-the-shelf shirt to be far to big, thus not properly fitting. This is where tailored shirts are often more popular.

The most popular for of cuff is the one button round cuff, and this is what you will see most often in a business setting. The low profile style makes it the most popular cuff on traditional and modern dress shirt’s. A slight variation that is also common is the two button version. This cuff may be slightly longer than the one button.

Slightly longer, and used in the most formal events, the french cuff is considered very stylish. One does need cuff links to be able to properly wear french cuffs, as they need to be secured closed. In recent years the french cuff has made a comeback to less formal settings such as the office. Before, it was reserved for use with a lounge suit or formal jacket. The design of these cuffs is that they are folded once onto themselves.

If you can’t decide which cuff to have on your dress shirt than a great option would be the convertible cuff. This cuff converts between a barrel and a french, either to be used with the buttons included or with cuff links. It looks just as a normal barrel cuff, though once folded onto itself it functions just as a french cuff, without sacrificing any of the style.

The Yoke is the strip of material sewn across the shoulders to attach the front and back pieces of the shirt. Dress shirts normally have a one-piece yoke, though two-piece yokes can occasionally be found on traditional British dress shirts. The two-piece yoke is divided directly behind the neck, allowing the pattern to be lined up at a 90 degree angle to the pattern on the front of the shirt, while making the pattern of the yoke on the back intersect, producing a “V” shape to the dress shirt.

Pleats allows for flexibility across the shoulders of a men’s dress shirt. When the wearer of the dress shirt moves his arms up, the extra fabric folded into the pleats releases and allows flexibility. Pleats are located on the back of the dress shirt, starting at the seam between the back and yoke. Box pleats are located in the centre of the back, and can also be made as inverted box pleats which only show a visible line opening. Another option is the knife pleat, which is created when the fabric is folded over once, on the right and left sides of the back. An alternative to pleats is gathering. Gathering can be applied across the entire back/yoke seam, or just on the right and left back/yoke seam. A dress shirt can also be made without pleats. This is recommended for inward-arched backs that tend to collect a lot of fabric on the lower back of the dress shirt.

The modern dress shirt is found in either a round bottom or square cut. The round bottom is and adaption of the more traditional tail-cut. The tail-cut was a very rounded bottom, though this was adapted to a less rounded version for better convenience- many find the tail-cut comes untucked around the edges of the pants because it’s cut higher on it’s side. The square bottom is cut flat, and is becoming common in business wear as it’s perfect for a shirt that will always be tucked it. In this day in age it is acceptable to wear a dress shirt untucked in a casual setting.

A less common feature on dress shirts is darts. The purpose of darts is to remove excess fabric on the back of the shirt, thus making it follow the curvature of the back. This feature can compliment those with arched backs and slim figures. Some custom shirt makers do not use darts, though people that do wear darts appreciate the fit they provide. Most body shapes do not require darts on their dress shirt, but those that do will find it makes a huge difference to the style.

Monograms add a personal touch to a men’s dress shirt. The traditional dress shirt had a monogram to allow it to be identified in a commercial laundry. If worn in a business or formal setting, it is recommended that a dress shirt bear a monogram that is located in a discreet location, such as the placket bottom or the cuff. A more obvious placement for a monogram, ideal for a casual dress shirt, is on the pocket. Monogram font size should be fairly small, to discreetly point out, in effect, that “this dress shirt was carefully made for the wearer.”

Now that you have read this article you will have a solid understanding of the anatomy of a dress shirt. The men’s dress shirt is really a “time-less” piece of men’s fashion. It’s been around for hundreds of years, and will continue to be around for a long time to come. Unlike a typical shirt, the dress shirt is designed to contour, and compliment the features of the body, and this is why it’s design is so much more complex than your typical shirt.

Couples who have chosen to purchase Celtic wedding bands are just at the beginning of the decision making process. The first step is to consider which alloy they want their ring to be made of. With many options to choose from, we will look at four popular choices. First, we will look at traditional yellow gold. Second, we will learn about white gold and how it differs from yellow gold. Third, we will consider the strength of titanium. Finally we will look at Tungsten carbide as a ring choice. Ring shoppers will want to acquaint themselves with many materials to ensure they choose the one that fits their needs best.

Traditional yellow gold is probably the most popular choice for wedding rings historically. Its intrinsic value adds to the symbols meaning. Because gold is so soft, it can be re-sized and reshaped. Despite its popularity, yellow gold still has some drawbacks. Because of its malleability, it is easy for the ring to become nicked and scratched and dull as a result. Also, over time some rings lose their shape. Those who plan on keeping their ring on while they perform routine daily tasks like yard work or cleaning may find gold isn’t the right material for their ring.

In recent years white gold has gained in usage and popularity. White gold manages to retain the intrinsic value of gold, without the brassy coloring of yellow gold. White gold is an alloy mix of gold together with materials such as zinc, palladium, or nickel. When a ring is finished it is rhodium plated to cover the dull yellow color that remains. Like yellow gold, many of the benefits are the same. Some of their weaknesses are the same. White gold will also scratch easily and be prone to losing some of its shape. Also, white gold rings need to be re-rhodium plated on a regular basis. This should happen every 6-18 months. While some couples are very happy with their white gold, others find dealing with nicks and re-rhodium plating is just too much maintenance.

In recent years titanium has gained a wider audience in wedding ring material. Unlike other alloys, titanium is extremely light. Although it is not a heavy material, it is a very strong material. Unfinished titanium is dark gray in color, but can be altered by different finishes. Titanium can be a great wedding ring material for couples who don’t want the hassle of consistent upkeep. There are some misconceptions that titanium rings cannot be cut off in case of accidents. Since it is harder than gold, the cutting process is also more difficult but it can still be done. One drawback that titanium has is that re-sizing it is not possible.

Tungsten carbide is the newest material to market that we will look at. Tungsten carbide is created by combining a bonding agent with tungsten and carbon particles. Once a tungsten ring has been cast it is extremely hard and scratch resistant. Tungsten is actually a lot heavier than gold or silver, but it much more durable also. As wedding bands go, tungsten rings maintain the cleanest finish as scratches to it are not easily visible. Tungsten lacks the malleability of gold and cannot be re-sized. Tungsten rings can also be broken if dropped onto ceramic tile or other accidents.

Choosing a wedding band means making many choices. A couple can choose a traditional material or a new one. The most important thing is that a couple choose something they will be pleased with. There is a much better chance of a couple appreciating their rings if they have taken the time to educate themselves.

Liam Grant has always been interested in Celtic Wedding Bands. He currently helps run a site that sells all varieties of Celtic Wedding Bands and Celtic Wedding Rings

You will find this article helpful by detailing the products put out through Revitalash and how effective they are. The information compiled is through actual Revitalash reviews that can give a very specific determination as to what you can expect from the products that they have made.

If you consider yourself someone who goes to any length in the interest of looking their best, then likely you have heard of Revitalash and their impressive product line. These products are slated to bring about fuller and thicker eyelashes to draw some natural attention to some of your most beautiful assets.

There are two main products that Revitalash has released and these are mascara and conditioner. Both of these are designed to be used specifically on your eyelashes. The conditioner works to gradually improve the look of your eyelashes, while the mascara more or less improves upon that activity. They work as one unit to achieve the goal of fuller and lengthier lashes. Either one of these products will work well on its own, but together it forms one powerful combination to vastly improve the health and look of your eyelashes.

These are not the only impressive products that have been brought out by Revitalash. Making use of their revolutionary technology, they have recently released a conditioner for your hair that is slated to vastly improve its strength and appearance. By using the same components that are used in the eyelash conditioner, women are finding beautiful, luscious hair after only a week or two of use.

But what are people actually saying? Well you are likely to find some nay sayers and some highly unsatisfied customers with anything. Revitalash is no different. However, the more resounding response amongst the reviews and general opinion I have discovered through internet searches is that this product is effective and impressive.

You can purchase this product through select retail stores and through many online retail locations, should you choose to look into it. Based on some of these Revitalash reviews, you might very well be intrigued enough to try it out.

To learn more about eyelash growth, advantages, disadvantages and possible side effects of lash stimulators visit Eyelash-Growth.com – site that reviews various products and agents, including Revitalash. This site was made to educate customers about cost-effective tips to make longer and stronger eyelashes.

We all know the most commonly worn, and often understated, article of clothing: the t-shirt. We all have a few in our closest and I would be shocked if you said you didn’t. I have compiled some ideas and tips to help you wear those t-shirts in new ways.

Is that a blouse? Nope it’s a t-shirt: Disguise your t-shirt as a blouse. Tuck your shirt into your pants, skirt, or shorts to give it that lively blouse feel. Next layer it with some necklaces, a vest, or maybe even a blazer. Just make sure that if the sleeve show you fold or roll them up, we don?t want any loose ends you could say.

Tone down a dressy outfit: Are you dying to find a way to wear your amazing metallic suit jacket or fabulous leather leggings without looking overboard on the fancy? Fear not, your problem is easily solved by throwing on a longer loose fitted tee or tank in a neutral color.

The artsy tee: The days of the ironic tees are over, thank goodness! Now it is all about the artsy tee. Artsy t-shirts tend to add a slightly mature look to the graphic tee. Generally they have no words, but if so then the type is usually very stylized. Artsy tees have that certain something that can be rocked dressed up or dressed down.

Want words? Just keep it simple: If you are dying to have some words on your shirt if is good to keep in mind that minimalism is in. The simpler, the better. Usually it is good to keep the type plain and not stylized. If you want to have a phrase, try to limit yourself to not exceeding 5 words.

Let a solid t-shirt highlight glam make-up: Want to wear bright read lipstick or just rock the really dramatic eyes? Well make them pop by wearing a solid t-shirt in a neutral color. This way your shirt won?t distract from you glamorous look. This trick can also be used to highlight colorful pants or jewelry, try it out.

Show some support: Wearing a t-shirt in support of you something you believe in can be a strong style statement. That is why I say go for it! It is ok to let people know how you feel, weather it is cancer awareness, change, or even an MS walk. Confidence is the best fashion accessory and nothing says confidence like not being afraid to wear a t-shirt of something you support.

Follow the boys lead: It is ok to take a fashion cue from the boys now and again. Now would be one of those ok times. Take a boys band tee (or just a cool shirt) and team it up with a boys blazer. Now you have a totally fabulous rock look! Don’t forget to add some heels or boots, and a clutch so that it still has a feminine feel.

Have some fun with it: There is a reason the t-shirt has been an essential part of weekend attire. The reason being it is easy, comfortable, colorful, and affordable (most of the time). So go have fun with your t-shirts, experiment with different looks and styles, just be yourself!

Tami Starling has a great love of fashion and of course a love for t-shirts. Her blog Customized T-Shirts focuses on t-shirts, documenting the good, the bad, the deals, and the competitions.

The most obvious counterfeits can be identified within seconds of contact. While many of these tips will not apply to watches that are bought online, knowing the basics of counterfeit identification is a great first step.

1. Second Hand Movement – Save for a short time where Rolex made Quartz powered watches (OysterQuartz) all Rolex movements are mechanical. This means that they have a smooth sweeping motion when the second hand moves around the dial – “ticking” about 5-8 times per second.

Many high end fakes will almost duplicate this effect but the keyword is ALMOST – even most of the high end fake watches tick around three to four times a second. This still generates a similar “sweeping” illusion but it is immediately apparent that it is not as smooth as a genuine Rolex movement.

2. Clear Case Back – Another giveaway for a replica Rolex is the clear case back. This is a transparent window on the back of the watch case that shows the movement inside. Despite many fake Rolex watches using quartz movements, there are some “higher-end” models that use a mechanical movement.

Many replicas will try to show this fact off by sporting a clear case backing. While this is certainly an interesting feature that is employed by various other high end luxury watches, Rolex has never created a watch model with a clear case backing.

3. Watch weight – A combination of high quality materials in the movement, case and bracelet add up to quite a bit of weight. An all gold Rolex which is quite light is a good indication of hollow links, or simply steel that is gold-plated and thus, a fake watch.

4. Cyclops Lens – Rolex is the inventor of the Cyclops lens over the date window. This is a raised piece of glass in the 3′ o clock position that magnifies the date about 2.5 times . Many counterfeiters try and replicate this unsuccessfully.

A replica Rolex will often use a lower magnification about 1.5x. An easy way to tell is to see if the date display is magnified enough to almost fill the whole window while looking directly at it.

5. Date and Bezel Rotation – Rolex has a proprietary process to manufacture all their watches and their quality control is world-class. Check the printing of the date number and see if it is well done. Also check for alignment in the window. If either of these are just a little off, chances are it’s a fake. Real Rolex watches are “perfect” and shouldn’t have even the tiniest imperfections.

If you have the chance, rotate the bezel and count the number of clicks it makes in one complete rotation – authentic Rolex watches will have a bezel that clicks 120 times when rotated, fakes usually only click around 60 times. The quality of the clicks from an authentic Rolex will be very subtle and feel well very solid whereas the clicks from a fake will be a lot louder and feel a lot more “mechanical”.
